UK E-Learning Africa is a one-stop online portal for continuing professional development courses from the UK. Partnering
with leading education and technology providers in the UK, it aims to provide
the highest quality e-learning and consulting solutions to support workforce
development for organizations and governments in Africa.
Speaking
recently in Lagos at the British High Commission Residence, the MD/CEO, UK
eLearning Africa, Richard Hurst stated
“The purpose of our business
in Nigeria is to help harness this unique spirit of Nigerians. We want to work
with Nigerians and Nigerian businesses, educational institutions and
governments at all levels to harness the rich and diverse talents of the
Nigerian people.
We
believe that the Nigerian economy, now the largest in Africa can do even better
with specialized vocational and professional training targeted at core skills
that may not be presently taught at universities.”
When
properly trained, a workforce can become the most potent and can compete even
among the best in the world. Like in various other countries around the
world, universities provide the education people need to live in modern
societies, but organizations need to train their graduates and staff with the
core skills that prepare new staff for work and enhance the productivity of old
staff.
Speaking
on how this works, the Director, UK eLearning Africa, Dr. Jacob Jacob stated: “We
have developed two sets of extremely high quality courses in various areas
which can help organizations fulfill this need. The first sets of courses are
fully certified by the NCFE, one of the UK's most revered and oldest
accreditation bodies.“
The
NCFE has been accrediting courses in the UK for the past 150 years. It has now
been recognized as a premier training body, turned to by institutions of higher
learning and business not only in the UK but also around the world.
Dr.
Jacob continued saying, “The second set of courses are certified by the UK's
CPD or continuous professional development. They have been recognized as
courses that are needed at the work place to improve not only productivity but
also professional development of staff.”
The
organization partnered with one of the most innovative educational technology
solutions providers in the world - The Skills Network. They provide
education technologies for a diverse range of clientele - ranging from premier
league clubs to transnational security organizations, giving assurance that the
technologies that support the e-learning courses are among the very best in the
world. The tutors are very carefully selected professionals at the very
cutting edge of modern practice.”
To
buttress it’s commitment to Nigeria, UK eLearning partnered with a non-profit
organization - the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme ECEWS.
ECEWS,
headed by Andy Eyo as the Executive Director, has partnered with various
organizations including the U.S. government, John Hopkins University among
several others to deliver training and health campaigns in Nigeria. With
offices around the country, they have the ability, stability and the integrity
to bring the UK educational services to Nigerians.
